GRAND BATEAU ROUGE Bordeaux Rouge AOCParticularities
Dating back to the 1980’s, Grand Bateau is the fruit of the collaboration between Maison Barrière and Chateau Beychevelle, our sister company. The boat which decorates this label is the mythical galleon of the famous Château Beychevelle which took part and sponsored the conception and creation of Grand Bateau. Today, Philippe Blanc, Château Beychevelle’s winemaker, provides us with the ultimate technical guidance in our famed assemblage of these wines. Varietals65% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon Vinification & AgeingGrand Bateau is vinified in the state of the art, matching traditional winemaking and modern technics. The master blending marrying, parcels vinified in oak barrels and parcels vinified traditionally in vats, gives to the wine suppleness and exquisite vanilla hints. Tasting NoteExpressive nose of ripe red fruits (plums, ripe cassis ...), spices and with an elegant touch of new oak. On the palate, the wine is immediately harmonious and seductive with velvety ripe-fruit flavours wonderfully cradled by the new–oak. Medium bodied with ripe tannins and a savoury finish. Perfect for drinking now and ideally over the next few years. Can be served alone, as an apéritif, and equally enjoyable with red meats (game), pasta and cheeses. |
